Terms and conditions

Payment by Paypal, bank transfer or cheques (UK only)

I will then send my Paypal email (not the same as the email above) or bank details along with the total amount

Postage costs added on top at cost. All items will be sent registered and tracked when this service is available.

I will monitor responses the first 2 hours of the sale on Sunday, but will wait until the next day before notifying of any wins, in case there are any email delays. The first to claim wins on the set sales

I will update a master list on this special blog page https://purepopsetsale.blogspot.com/

Sold items will turn red and be marked as sold

Important: Only communicate via email.  I will not accept requests via Facebook messenger, instagram, What's app etc...This is to make it a level playing field as much as possible

EU/Worldwide Shipping

Unless asked to do otherwise, I will mark the customs declaration as “gift” with a low value (so no tax to pay). Although there are no problems doing this when sending to the US or Australia,  customs in the EU have been over-zealous since July 2021, so records can get stuck in customs for a number of days. Although I will mark packages as gift with a low value some countries (Germany in particular) tend to charge import duty (usually under € 10).

Grading

I don’t use the term Mint. I don’t believe that records manufactured over 30 years ago, even if unplayed, can be called mint.

Grading: Record/Cover

EX: Means either “near mint” to some light very marks with hardly any noticeable noise. Sleeve has no or only minor wear.

VG: Means means some minimal background sounds and more pronounced marks which do not affect the listening experience in a major way. Sleeve may be creased, minor discolouring, the odd fraying, some ringwear, seam split and perhaps some  writing.

G: Means noticeable clicks or pop, may have scratches, but doesn’t skip or jump. Sleeve may be ripped, tape repair, large writing, sticker removal damage etc...

Fair: Not a pleasant listening experience, the disc is damaged, just a stop gap before upgrading. Sleeve is badly damaged, not one to frame on the wall...

Poor: I don’t sell records in poor condition

Please note that in many cases Youtube clips are for reference and not from the record for sale

Part 1: Mini 48hr Auction (records)

Dick Rabbit – Take Me To L.A./You Come On Like A Train - Deltron (US) Hear   https://youtu.be/ZVIqogksRlI

SOLD

In-Sex – Alligator Wine / Action In The Street -Hammer (US) Hear from the record itself https://youtu.be/zIo-0L1lo70

Wild Fuzz Heaviness!  Alligator Wine was the 2nd and last single by In-Sex who are better known for Penitentiary Planet Blues/ Space Man…however this one blitzes all over their other effort. Their cover of Alligator Wine takes the essence of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, rolls it in grease with a heavy dose of lard before infusing it with amphetamine -laced psychedelics  for its glorious fuzzed-out finale. X on label

Masters Apprentices- Undecided/ Wars or Hands of Time –Metronome (Ger)  Hear https://youtu.be/JnMytzzcRGI  https://youtu.be/Te4I9nt589I

The ultimate Masters single, well in fact one the greatest double-siders released in the 60s. Here housed in its GREAT German pic sleeve. The record is in perfect condition, while the sleeve has mininal fraying and what could be a bit of repair on the back, still very presentable see pics

VG+

SOLD

Terry Britten -2000 Weeks/Bargain Day - Columbia Demo (UK) Hear https://youtu.be/WZERHHeKPh4 https://youtu.be/KtQVRYYEEUQ

Extremely rare UK outing from the ex Twilights leader. Bargain Day is the real winner for me. Plays perfect, although the record is not perfectly flat with minimal lifting

http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=0f98709c-cbd5-4f45-8203-c1f7f48ab3f9

INDISPENSABLE! Time’s Up is a a remarkable no holds barred overdriven Michigan Rock Classic and the archetypical example of the perfect Proto Punk performance. Visually the record is around VG with several marks, but it plays Strong VG+

VG

SOLD

Train, The  - (I Want) Sunshine / You Make Me Feel Alright - Full Tone (US) Hear the record itself https://youtu.be/kPMJx7WootM

One of the scusiest, fuzz-filled Heavy monsters. This needs to be heard to be believed. A true Monster in top condition that never shows up

Part 2: Mini 48hr Auction (Acetates)

·        Same process as the record auction above

·    Note about acetates: Acetates are not pressed, they are one-off cuts done in real time either at the recording studio or mastering suite.

·    They are not supposed to be played intensively, but were used for reference or sometimes demos to be given to the musician/producer or record company. Sometimes they might be a one-off, but usually 2-3 acetates might be made, rarely more

Fancy- Who Would Be The Loser/ Star Lord - Emidic Hear full clips of both sides

http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=f1bae419-dd16-46fb-b087-f785ca0adf85

Pre Mott! Fancy were a Hard Glam foursome formed in Southend. Prior to being kidnapped as a direct replacement for Ian Hunter, Nigel Benjamin was their lead singer. The line-up also included Bob Banasiak on guitar, Phil Mitchell on bass, and Chris Holibon on drums.  Banasiak would join Angel (Good Time Fanny) soon after releasing their sole single Star Lord on Sticky. Who Would Be The Loser is  unreleased and is by far the best performance out of the three known tracks. Not sure if the version of Star Lord is the same as the version released on Sticky. .Condition a few marks and blotches but plays well, Star Lord is a bit more crackly with 2 small skips.  Heat full sound clips of both sides

http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=6dd28d95-bbb3-44f0-93da-f873939974be

Totally inept Bonehead Boogie/Rock n Roll revival. The band sound very young. The singer is straining to hit the notes and the guitar player has a fuzz pedal that he just bought so was going to use it throughout. The A side is written by I. Hall and the surprising information is that Jailhouse Rock was in fact written by I. Hall with C. Patmore -who knew?

http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=9a9048e8-dabf-4385-ad68-036b67fa4069

2 years before Punk and the revolution craved for here, is not about overthrowing the government or kicking Ted in the teeth, these guys just want  a “decent” life. So basically this is not a Third World War rallying call to arms, but a bouncy Glam//Pub rock ditty which is pretty hooky The other side Drive is er…more driving with some gritty guitar. Don’t be fooled by the UA catalogue number. What probably happened is that an engineer at Trident had a left over unused acetate

http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=ef57e029-c0c9-45a6-8de2-cd1f7cd396a9

Detective work needed here. Rock Me Over is a Rubettes/Wizzard type melodic near Glam 70s rock revival work out. The voice is similar to Roy Wood, but then again it could be Elmer Goodbody! There is an unrelated Tony Christie song on the B side from 1975. Hear a full sound clip before bidding

A lesson on how not to follow a great debut Like "Father's Name is Dad", blame Mike Berry (Ning etc…). Taken in its own right, Toothy Ruthie is fun Bubblegum, while the sped up vocals on the A side still grate.

Bonehead Folkrock? Hard Loner? Heavy Folk Psych more like. The track starts out quite sedate, but then builds and gets meatier and meaner as it goes along. An obscure one for sure.

Dizzy's Farm - Vodka Collins/Chattanooga Blues -HMR (US) Hear  the record  itself https://youtu.be/WU_8znRK23U

 https://youtu.be/XlAMz1yVGsc

A complete mystery disc here. Vodka Collins is a good 70s rocker, with some gritty guitar featuring leslie speaker-like sound  during the cool guitar interplay; great  playing anyhow…Chattanooga Blues is an uptempo cowbell driven rural choogler; about the merits of moving to the country, upright yet bouncy. Please note the record sounds less crackly now as I have given it a good clean since the Youtbe recording was made

Yes the same Killer Frog that issued the ultimate Bonehead classic Hard Times / Mighty Mouse single. This single came out earlier and is a decent rocker, but not of the same calibre

Open House– Mr.Sparky /My Song -Nest  (UK) Hear  https://youtu.be/o6LQ066eWLg

Obscure UK release from 72, featuring fuzzed up guitar over an amateurish backing that sounds like an inept Punk band. It also has a catchy melodic chorus which makes this record a weird mish-mash. As featured on Sydney's Lunchbox (British Psychedelics 1968-1977)
