Terms and conditions

Payment by Paypal, bank transfer or cheques (UK only)

Email me on purepop1uk@yahoo.co.uk with your selections and I will let you know if you have been successful.

I will then send my Paypal email (not the same as the email above) or bank details along with the total amount

Postage costs added on top at cost. All items will be sent registered and tracked when this service is available.

I will monitor responses the first 2 hours of the sale on Sunday, but will wait until the next day before notifying of any wins, in case there are any email delays. The first to claim wins on the set sales

I will update a master list on this special blog page https://purepopsetsale.blogspot.com/  where you can see photos more clearly. Sold items will turn red and be marked as sold

Important: Only communicate via email.  I will not accept requests via Facebook messenger, instagram, What's app etc...This is to make it a level playing field as much as possible

EU/Worldwide Shipping

Unless asked to do otherwise, I will mark the customs declaration as “gift” with a low value (so no tax to pay). Although there are no problems doing this when sending to the US or Australia,  customs in the EU have been over-zealous since July 2021, so records can get stuck in customs for a number of days. Although I will mark packages as gift with a low value some countries (Germany in particular) tend to charge import duty (usually under € 10).

Note: I will be attending the Den Bosch record fair in Holland from the 11 until 14 April, so a personal delivery can be arrangedfor anyone attending

Grading

I don’t use the term Mint. I don’t believe that records manufactured over 30 years ago, even if unplayed, can be called mint.

Grading: Record/Cover

EX: Means either “near mint” to some light very marks with hardly any noticeable noise. Sleeve has no or only minor wear.

VG: Means means some minimal background sounds and more pronounced marks which do not affect the listening experience in a major way. Sleeve may be creased, minor discolouring, the odd fraying, some ringwear, seam split and perhaps some  writing.

G: Means noticeable clicks or pop, may have scratches, but doesn’t skip or jump. Sleeve may be ripped, tape repair, large writing, sticker removal damage etc...

Fair: Not a pleasant listening experience, the disc is damaged, just a stop gap before upgrading. Sleeve is badly damaged, not one to frame on the wall...

Poor: I don’t sell records in poor condition

Please note that in many cases Youtube clips are for reference and not from the record for sale

Part 1: Mini 48hr Auction

·        This is how it works, from 10pm GMT (UK) on the 24th March until Tuesday 26th March 10pm GMT when the auction closes,  the following 9 records are up for the 48hr auction

·        You may either enter the minimum amount or bid as high as you like in order to secure these records.

·        Bidding is an “up to” amount, meaning if you bid £160 and the second highest bid is £130, the winning bidder will just need to pay £135 (£5 over the 2nd highest bid)

Example

·        Everyone who sends in a bid will receive a similar view of  bidding activities by email

From Greenwood, Virginia comes this total obscurity. Slippen Away is a perfect mix of Proto Punk and Hard Rock with some Powerpop overtones. The B side is a cover of Bob Seger's Rosalie so it was probably a bar band that managed to self-release their only single.

Not seen or sold for over 10 years

This is one that is starting to get noticed and it's about time. From Wisconsin and released in 1970, it sounds like a Garage band turned heavy with top riffs, fuzz and attitude. Condition: The labels are faded and a bit grimy, but the sound is loud and proud - hear soundclips from the record itself

Sublime later effort by the post RSO/Rocket  Blue. Here they take full control of the reigns. It’s the best damn thing they ever did. Another mystery group; this time purveying a welcoming blend of mid 70s Powerpop. Let Me Have It is the more intricate creation of the two. The song is both riff-heavy along with sporting lush vocal harmonies.. Maria– Let's Do it Again/I Wanna Dance With You  - Epidemic (South Africa)

 Hear https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpwPdk6XpfY

One for completists only. South Africa's Maria released a decent cover of Clap Your Hands and Stamp Your Feet, so when I saw she was covering Crunch's prime stomper, I had high hopes….then I played it... Basically, Disco came along and made itself heard. The choruses are closer to the original, but no, sorry Maria, not good enough. The record is in near perfect condition and I expect it to remain this way

Cosmic Evolution deliver a cracking woman themed double-sider. For sheer dumbness the B side edges it for me. The Cosmic Evolution convey their crotch felt ode to the next state’s talent. ”The A side is more organ driven…with a more direct lineage to late 60s Heavy Psych. Evil Woman is a top draw rocker featuring a fine array of grunts and top fuzz guitar lick
